One thing you love you about our MRTT chapter: Words can not rightfully express how supportive everyone in the group has been. I was afraid to join a group run, thinking “what if I’m too slow, what if I can’t go as far…” etc. Yes, I have been the slowest on a group run before, but the ladies were nothing but supportive and encouraging. It made me push myself further than I would have otherwise. I especially love the kid friendly runs, it gives moms a chance to log some miles and sets a great example for our kids.
When did you start running consistently? I had been a regular runner in my college years due to some time in the Army, but after knee surgery in 2012, I had stopped for a few years. I got back into it March of 2015.
Where is your favorite place to run/workout? Livingston Park is one of my favorites for early morning runs or walks.
Do you have a favorite race? If not, what is on your bucket list? I did the Lake Massabesic 10 miler this year. It was a gorgeous and challenging course. I am looking forward to killing my time next year!
What is your current running/fitness goal? My previous goal was to complete my first half marathon. I met that goal on October 4th. My new goal is to work on bringing my pace down.
Why do you run? I originally began running to lose some weight I had put on. Once I lost the weight and broke through the 6-8 mile distances, I run to push myself. I run for the challenge. I run for the peace of mind.
Who do you love to run with? I’m not sure if this counts as a legitimate answer, but I adore running, albeit short distances and slow paces, with my 4 year old. Nothing makes me prouder than to hear his little voice say “Mommy can I run with you?”
