This race was extremely well organized. It was the inaugural race and everything from bib pickup to course directions ran smoothly. Relay captains and marathoners did an early bib pickup on Saturday. The only glitch on race day was a ten minute delay waiting for the lead car to arrive.
The race started and finished in downtown Nashua. The course consisted of five legs that ranged from 4.3-5.6 miles each. The legs started and ended for the relay handoff in the same area throughout. This allowed relay teams to hang out together and cheer their fellow runners on. It also helped the marathoners with the extra support at the start of each leg. It was a hot and sunny run where each leg varied from downtown Nashua, residential areas, Greely Park, and Mines Falls.
Runners received a Brooks tech shirt, finisher’s medal, a sturdy sports bag that included a water bottle, plastic cup, chapstick, bandaids, coupons, and several brochures. Each runner also got a beer ticket for The Arena Sports Bar.
Some runners reported to the Arena for their beer. Others ventured off for a free massage, pizza, or yogurt. There was not much of an after party due to the excitement of during the race. Relay teams had easy up tents, coolers, chairs, and snacks to share. There was a true sense of team under those tents.
This race really brought out the best in our mother runners! There was support, encouragement, and constant cheering from 8:00am-2:00pm. GMMRTT really shined and demonstrated what it means to be a strong, confident woman who believes in her fellow running moms. The entire day was filled with smiles and pride. The bond and memories made on the course and under the tents will never be forgotten. I am honored to be a part of such an inspiring group!
Thank you for a great day!
